Summer Driving Tips

Properly preparing you vehicle to withstand the summer heat shouldn’t feel like a chore. Considering proper maintenance and an inspection can save a good amount of money, it's well worth doing. From before you leave the house to while you’re on the road, there’s always something to check up on in your vehicle. Keep up with these summer driving tips so you don’t end up sweating on the side of the road!
Before You Leave
It pays to take care of routine maintenance prior to heading out on any type of summer road trip. Make sure to have your oil changed, battery checked, and tires rotated prior to hitting the road. Consult the owner’s manual to determine what maintenance needs to be done in order to ensure your vehicle operates at peak efficiency under the summer sun!

An inspection certainly doesn’t hurt either. A broken water pump or old coolant could result in an overheated engine, and that can bring any road trip to a nasty end.
On The Road
Practicing proper driver safety on the road is important to prevent any unfortunate accidents along the way. Make sure to forego checking your phone and always make sure all occupants have their seat belts buckled prior to driving. Concentrate on the road and avoid distracted driving. Keep in mind many states aren’t too lenient when it comes to texting behind the wheel!

Take a break if you feel fatigued and make sure to get food and water. Stop before making any phone call or sending a text. It’s better to sleep the night away than to drive while tired.
Basic Summer Safety
It gets hot out in the summer sun, which is why it’s important to keep your keys out of the reach of children. Never leave a child in a parked car. Make sure to roll down the window or leave the air conditioning on if you absolutely have to leave pets in the vehicle.
